It's Getting Hot in Here!
Are you sick of people talking about the heat yet? Are we at that point of Summer where talking about the weather is just as excruciating? Well, here I am LOL. I will always suffer the confusion of how the thermostat reads 88* and the weather reporter likes to add in "but it feels like 105*"... I do my best to not complain most days, looking forward to what each everchanging moment has to offer. When I think heat, my first instinct is to seek relief. I think cool breeze and Spearmint Hydrosol. The instant cooling and cleansing refresh of just one spritz directly to the face helps me to again enjoy my time in the great outdoors.
Hydrosols have more beneficial uses than just an invigorating mist to cool down in the dog days of Summer, but it may be my favorite. I use hydrosols year round for various reasons like calming nerves in traffic, after shower pre-moisturizing, and even cleaning my sweet little floppy eared pooches ear canals. (I like Witch Hazel for that one. I think she does too.)
We have many hydrosols back in stock. Here is a list of fresh batches and some common uses:
Catnip Hydrosol : Yes, your cat will love it! Even better though, the mosquitoes won't! I spray this one on every time I'm going out to do yardwork or a stroll through the woods. I have heard success stories in evading chigger bites as well.
Ginger Hydrosol : We first got Ginger Hydrosol because Marge wanted to taste it, but for its beneficial purposes she would suggest its use for airsickness, carsickness, morning sickness, any sort of nausea or indigestion. (I will add that Marge thought it was DELICIOUS in a seltzer water.)
Lemon Thyme Hydrosol : We would often get requests for suggestions dealing with systemic candida. The oral use of Lemon Thyme Hydrosol would be well worth trying. We need to revisit some unpublished studies done on this one for its use as an antibacterial. A pilot study at UCLA Allergy Clinic shows that Lemon Thyme hydrosol is effective for patients suffering from sinusitis and inflammation. One ml of hydrosol in a personal facial steamer two or three times a day was showing great results.
Linden Hydrosol : This hydrosol does not have the sweet floral aroma of our CO2 extracted Linden Blossom (sidenote: we are currently in the works to restock the CO2 extract... stay tuned), but rather sweetly, softly green, with a hint of a floral note. I think of walking into an overgrown garden, with shrubs, and vines, and a few blossoms. It is in its emotional uses that Linden Hydrosol shines.
Turmeric Hydrosol : Our distiller swears by it for skincare. I am told that it is at least as powerful an anti-inflammatory for skincare as is German Chamomile, but with a different mechanism of action, working in cases where the Chamomile is not effective. Turmeric Hydrosol is a safe and useful addition to your aromatic first aid kit, particularly for treating all varieties of skin problems
Yarrow Hydrosol : Last but not least, we have been searching for this one for a few years to restock. I am very excited! Said to be practically a miracle soother for any sort of itching skin condition the likes of insect bites, eczema, poison ivy, sunburn… a wonderfully effective itch reliever. Extremely useful for outdoorsy types that often forget their SkeeterBeater before it's too late.
Our Sale of the Month ends soon July 31st in which we have a handful of beautiful hydrosols marked down, and for funzies... it's Christmas in July! So if the heat has you down go ahead and jump into the Holiday Joy for a spell, or prepare to settle in for what's next with Autumn Hope!
Take care all!
Candice
